Mission West Virginia began as Governor Cecil H. Underwood’s vision of social change in West Virginia with surplus funds from his 1997 inauguration. Since that time, Mission West Virginia has provided innovative services and assistance to both residents and organizations in all fifty-five counties.
Over ten million in federal and state monies has been secured to work with both faith-based and community-based organizations. Three million of those dollars have gone directly to provide sub grants and supplies to other grassroots agencies throughout the state. Three large initiatives guide the organization: The e-Impact program works to bridge the digital divide. FrameWorks increases support and awareness on adoption and foster care issues. The Wellspring Center offers intermediary capacity-building services to faith-based and community-based organizations.
In our ten years of operation and service, 90% of our funds have come from grants. The remaining amount has come from fees for service and the sale of surplus computers. In these ten years we have not asked for any financial support from our friends, agencies, or supporters. As we work to sustain and build the future of Mission West Virginia, we are now reaching out to you and respectfully asking that you make a contribution to help us reach our common goal of building a stronger West Virginia.
We are in the process of planning an anniversary dinner to recognize the ten year success of Mission West Virginia, honor Governor Underwood, and provide additional funding for the work of Mission West Virginia.
