Becoming A Foster Parent in WV During the Covid 2019 (Covid-19) Pandemic

During the Covid-19 crisis, we are all facing many difficulties but it is hard to imagine what children in unsafe homes are going through and feeling at this time. While life has certainly changed for all of us, the need for foster families in West Virginia remains the same. If you’ve been waiting to become a foster parent, we urge you to take the first step today.

Agencies are currently accommodating families during Covid-19  by providing interactive online-based training so that you can get the certification process started from home. In addition, you can communicate with agencies online or on the phone throughout the process.

So, what to do first? You can start by visiting our website and requesting our digital information guide! You may also request our guide by calling 304-512-0555. Our detailed guide shares information about qualifications, questions to ask agencies and more. We are also happy to talk with you on the phone and/or email you about any questions you might have.

After reading through the guide you’ll know enough about that process to feel confident when you call an agency that serves your county – this is your next step!

Call a few agencies in order to make an informed decision. Along with your information guide, we will have sent you a list of agencies by county.  On page 9 of the guide you’ll find a list of questions we suggest you ask. After choosing your agency, you will be sent an application and the worker will get you signed up to begin the required training. Now, you are on your way!

We will stay in touch throughout the certification process to provide assistance and you can call or email us if you have questions. We look forward to hearing from you and helping you as you open your home and life to kids in foster care.
