Foster Care Guidance, Support, and Community
Foster care in West Virginia faces a critical need for foster parents, with nearly 6,000 children in the foster system as of 2025. Mission WV is committed to supporting foster families at every stage of their journey, from initial inquiry to ongoing care. Our resources are designed to empower families, ensure stability for children, and build a network of support across the state.
Why Foster Care Matters More in West Virginia
West Virginia has the highest rate of children in foster care in the United States, nearly four times the national average. Many children enter care due to parental substance use, neglect, or abuse. Foster families provide the safe, stable, and loving homes these children need to heal and thrive.
