Family Planning Clinics
Mission WV does not offer family planning services. However, we’ve pulled together is a list of family planning centers in the state of WV. This resource list is meant to help you find a center who offers services you are in need of. Be sure to check with the clinic to see what all they offer as each clinic may offer different services.
What Is the Family Planning Program?
Family planning services include birth control, pregnancy tests, breast exams, sterilization, STD testing, abstinence education, health education, referrals and counseling. We can also help you decide when to have a baby and when to wait. These important decisions help keep you and your family healthy! They also provide medical screening services for your overall health and reproductive health, including screening for infections and certain types of cancer. This can help you discover health problems and receive referrals or treatment.
Comprehensive medical history review and clinical examination which may include:
Clinical breast exam and instruction on monthly self-exam
Testicular exam and instruction on self-exam
Screening and treatment for some sexually transmitted diseases (STD)
Pap test and pelvic exams performed beginning at age 21
Menstrual/sexual history
Pregnancy testing
Free Contraceptive Methods:
Intrauterine device (ParaGard® Copper T380A) (Mirena®)
Hormonal Implants (Nexplanon®)
Birth control shots (Depo-Provera®)
Contraceptive Ring (NuvaRing®)

Vaginal Contraceptive Film
Emergency contraceptive pills (Plan B®)
Natural family planning
Abstinence information

Behaviors that place people at risk for getting STD including HIV
Reproductive Life Planning
Pregnancy options
Resisting pressure to engage in sexual activities
Preconception counseling and the benefits folic acid before becoming pregnant

Follow-up and referral for identified medical needs
Who Qualifies for the Family Planning Program?
Women, men, and adolescents of reproductive age who want to avoid pregnancy or to become pregnant.
How Much Do These Services Cost?
Most family planning clinics accept most insurances including commercial insurance and Medicaid. You may be eligible for free or low-cost family planning services if you:
- Work at an entry-level, temporary, minimum-wage, or other low-paying job
- Are unemployed
- Are a student
- Can’t afford birth control after paying for basic needs
- Don’t have health insurance
- Have health insurance that doesn’t cover birth control or other Family Planning services
***No one is denied services because of an inability to pay. Be sure to check with the clinic regarding free/low cost services***
Are Services Kept Private?
Yes! No information about you can be given to anyone, except your insurance and health providers, without your written consent. This means if someone calls the clinic asking if you have been seen there, clinic staff are not permitted to reveal any of your information.
If you are concerned about your family being involved in these decisions or receiving a bill from your insurance, ask your provider if free confidential services are right for you.
