LGBTQ+ Youth Inclusivity and Affirming Care

Learn easy-to-implement recommendations for providing inclusive and affirming care to LGBTQ+ youth! Learn the basics of pronouns and gender identity, get tips from our youth advisory group, practice these recommendations through various interactive activities, and leave with new skills to provide the best care and support!

Objectives:
• Explain the basics of pronouns and gender identity
• Identify sexual health disparities for LGBTQ+ youth and understand the importance of providing affirming care
• Examine societal messaging around gender and sexual orientation and investigate their own implicit bias
• Apply recommendations for providing inclusive care to daily job tasks

About our Presenter:
Mollie Overby (they/them)
Mollie Overby, MPH, is a Capacity Building Specialist at Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest, Hawai’i, Alaska, Indiana, and Kentucky. They help lead IN·clued, an LGBTQ-specific sexual health education program. As part of the Capacity Building Team, they facilitate sex education training for sex educators and community partners, update and develop curricula, and support educators across their 6-state affiliate to implement INclued with community partners. Before this role, Mollie was a Community Outreach Educator and Teen Council facilitator in King County, WA, working with the Q Card Project and in the global health realm.
